new tabletop campaign is set in 1200s France and we're already digging it

"France has existed for, like, 20 years at most."
"We're living in a post-france world"

having to spend points at character creation to be able to speak, read, and write French

"If you throw an object at a target, roll your RP equal to your proficiency in Irregularly Shaped Objects."

Riddle of Steel is a lot, such as the fact that it has tables for called shots on snakes and birds, but no hide skill (it does have Hide From Humans and Hide From Animals)

"Books are expensive, fuck."
"Well, the printing press won't be invented for another 200 years and most people can't read anyways."

our GM: Your characters will likely die. Think of it as playing a dynasty or organization more than anyone in particular. Don't get too attached.
Riddle of Steel: Okay, what do they believe in? What are their passions? What do they want?
Me: Oh no, I love my gay little faerie noble and I don't want her to die

my problem is that i have a type* and that I'm really good at hitting it

* okay, a lot of types

the fact that i tend to immediately fall in love with my characters is both a strength and a weakness

I promised I wouldn't use my ridiculous German accent for this character, so she'll likely wind up with my Modemoiselle voice

Solitaire is unusual in that it took a while for me to fall in love with her, but now she's one of my favorites, so swings and roundabouts

@BestGirlGrace @00dani That..sounds like a problem. I've been so out of touch with rpgs though. I haven't played anything in like...a year now v.v

@prepmouse @00dani It's... going to be an adventure. This is different from the games we usually play in a lot of ways, but it's going to be interesting.

@monorail @BestGirlGrace it was forming around then, still nothing like we would consider germany today. Though the Holy Roman Empire was a large player.

@BestGirlGrace This is like me when I decide I’ve used my ridiculous Russian accent too much recently.

@BestGirlGrace I'm the exact opposite in that if my character doesn't die a 3rd of the way through my campaign I actively start doing stupid self destructive stuff because ok Grunky McStunglefoot I had a gimmick idea with you that ran out 3 sessions ago and it's time to go home.

@rockario See, this would imply that I only like girls who fall within the boundaries of my previously stated types, but this isn't entirely true. I guess it'd be more like a type hint or duck typing situation.

@BestGirlGrace I get that
And loosely typed would imply that your crushes always fall into one of your types, but you might not know what at first

@BestGirlGrace a big gay non-euclidean heart that somehow gets space for 5 more gays when you add a gay into it
